School-based Universal Prevention

by the National Institute on Drug Abuse

We offer in-service training in this science-based prevention program.

We train your Science or Health teachers to integrate the program into  their classrooms, correlating to current National Science and Health Standards.

Why choose  NIDA’s Brain Power! and The Brain?

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) has created a K-12 curriculum that is developmentally-appropriate, teacher-friendly, and science-based. The series is called Brain Power for grades K-8, and The Brain for grades 9-12

NIDA’s goal is to educate students on the science of how the brain works, the effects of drugs on the brain, and the process of addiction. Each highly interactive lesson correlates to required National Science Education Standards (NSES), and involves the students in discovering how to promote good brain health, and how abusing substances harms the brain and body.

Brain Power is cost-effective, and requires five to ten hours (class periods) each year.  The articulation offers our students a cohesive K-12 program designed by the experts in substance abuse.
